Welcome to Bowflex Works website! My name is Erica and my friends call me Maggie. My goal is to reach out to people who might be struggling with finding time to workout or where and when and how. AND it’s coming from a “normal” (I use that term lightly, lol) person who just wants to stay healthy and in shape.
I am 35 years old, married with a 13-year-old son, 18 month old son and another 13-year-old son (step-son, not twins) AND last but certainly not least my grandfather who is 89 and lives with my family and I. I work part-time since I started college classes which was long overdue but better late than never.
I played basketball in High School and enjoyed working out, training, going to the weight room and seeing how much it all helped me improve my game. It was hard work but so rewarding. I remember thinking as a teenager (not knowing about the busy life of adulthood) that no matter what I would always find time to work out and stay fit. I wasn’t going to be one of those adults that “let themselves go” or make excuses.
Then I became an adult who was working full time at 18 years old and taking on some bills at our house to help my grandfather. Also, paying for mistakes (financially and emotionally) that teenagers sometimes tend to make. I look back and think how dumb but the way I took responsibility for my actions and paid my dues really helped me grow.
OK so according to the “law” I was legally an adult but fast-forward to when I was REALLY an adult or trying harder to be. I just turned 21 and was pregnant with my first son. That put me straight into adulthood and I changed for the better. During my pregnancy I had no idea what I was doing and pretty much ate and ate some more. I ended up gaining 50 pounds during the pregnancy. I was working full time which is standing all day and some physical labor involved so I thought health wise that was enough. Nope I was wrong, I ended up gaining 50 pounds during the pregnancy.
After the baby I knew I needed to do more to stay in shape and just everyday life wasn’t going to make that happen. When my son was 1 year old I became a single mom working full time. I wanted to get back in shape and the only time I had was my lunch break. I joined the gym, had to pack a bag every day, make my workout less than an hour, and make that monthly payment.
This lasted for years and yes I got back in shape but it was difficult to only have my lunch break to workout. Once I was home and picked up my son I couldn’t take him to the gym.
I got married 4 years ago and now I had two sons. I picked them up from school, made sure they did homework and was still trying to workout at lunch. I also took them to school and packing my gym back and lunch, get ready for work and make sure the boys were getting ready wasn’t easy.
To be continued…
WHY I WANT TO HELP PEOPLE
Answering this question is the continuance of My Story. I found myself at times not wanting to put forth all that extra effort just to go to the gym. I would take long “breaks” meanwhile I stilled paid for the gym with automatic withdraw but didn’t want to cancel because I wanted and needed to go but it was an exhausting process
My husband and I decided to invest in the Bowflex elliptical machine and life became so much easier. did not have to pack a bag to workout at home. Or worry about my appearance. I could pick up the boys and workout while they were doing homework. I live close to work so if I wanted to continue working out during lunch I could still do that. all of a sudden had options. It wasn’t now or never.
I’m a strong believer (from personal experience) that you get what you pay for. Having said that these workout machines are not “cheap” exactly but the payment plans are more than affordable. The payments don’t last forever and than you own it.
I was pregnant with my second son and was determined to take better care of myself, keep in shape and watch my weight this time. I learned from my mistake the first go around. This machine was perfect throughout my entire pregnancy. Not too strenuous but enough to help. I only gained 25 pounds this time!
I want moms, dads, the “elderly”, pregnant, overweight and out of shape community to know there is an easy way to improve the quality of life. Working out relieves stress and makes me just feel better about myself. It’s easy on your joints if you have old injuries or joint pain. It has a great 14-minute workout that guides and times you the entire work out!!! did not think 14 minutes would do much or either it overworked you during that time and you passed out but nope it’s a great pace and enough to get results.
THE GOAL OF MY SITE
This brings me to the goal/ reason for what I choose to tell people about. Life is busy, messy, crazy and stressful and we forget what is important or miss out on what we want/need to do for ourselves. Finding a way to work around all of that and start working on myself, my body, my health and the huge help my last pregnancy had with Bowflex I had to share.
No time… It’s got a fantastic 14-minute workout!
No money… Payment plans are affordable!
Hate the gym… Exercise from home: while the kids sleep/nap, before work, lunch, after work, up to you! Also, the gym might be busy, I ran into problems that all the machines were being used and I had a short time frame. Problem solved!
Skeptical… Me too, but took the chance and I can physically see an improvement and I gained half the weight with Bowflex during my second pregnancy.
Joint pain… No problem! Easy on joints, no strain and can work out at your own pace. With or without help from the machine.
Just a few things I have picked up from using Bowflex. Working out is so important in todays world and I don’t want anyone to miss out on an opportunity to improve yourself and be healthier, happier and stress free. No more excuses, it is so easy and completely possible. I’m not super model skinny but I’m healthy and feel great and finally have a way to do what I love without all the hassle. I want to help you do the same!
If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
All the best,
